Medical Physics Residency Programs - Overview
The Department of Medical Physics at the Cross Cancer Institute offers three residency programs, two of which are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP) and a third which provides high quality training in a field that is outside the scope of CAMPEP. Medical Physics Residents may pursue training in:
- Radiation Oncology Physics ( a CAMPEP accredited program)
- Imaging Physics, which includes residencies in nuclear medicine physics, and diagnostic radiological physics. (a CAMPEP accredited program)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics. (outside the scope of CAMPEP)
The Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) is a provincially funded cancer center located in Edmonton , Alberta and is operated by Alberta Health Services. The Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) is located on the SW edge of the University of Alberta North Campus and is approximately two blocks from the University of Alberta Hospital (Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre (WCM)). (see the Campus Map: and select the North Campus)
The goal of the Medical Physics Residency Programs is to provide training in the field of Medical Physics. Applicants are expected to have a graduate degree (CAMPEP Accredited - PhD preferred) in Medical Physics or a closely related field.
